If your online application meets our criteria, we’ll invite you to complete our Interactive Assessment.

This is a blended assessment that consists of numerical and verbal tests and a behavioural assessment and concludes with you recording a short video interview.

We’ll send an email to the address you supplied with your application to tell you when you can take our Interactive Assessment, so keep an eye on your inbox and check your junk mail folder. Once you have completed the assessment you’ll receive a feedback report on your performance.

The assessment has been designed to look for grit and determination, a willingness to embrace our digital reality and your ability to apply your creativity and knowledge to solve any problem. The questions won’t require any prior knowledge or expertise, all we ask is that you answer them as honestly as possible. There will be an introduction at the start of the assessment, talking you though the instructions. You may need to use a calculator for some of the questions, so we’d suggest you have one to have before starting.

Tips for our Interactive Assessment:

  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection before you start the test.
  • Find somewhere quiet, where you can concentrate and won’t be interrupted.
  • Our reasoning tests are time-recorded, rather than time-limited, so don’t feel rushed when answering questions.
  • Our video interview questions are timed and you will see a countdown timer on your screen so you can pace your answers.

Please note: as part of our quality control procedures, you may be randomly selected to be re-tested at a later stage of the assessment process to verify results.

We are aware that third party providers are selling copies of online tests and guidance on how to complete our recruitment assessments.

We are not connected to and do not endorse these providers. Please be aware that where evidence is found that candidates have undermined our recruitment process, applications may be withdrawn. The best way to find out more about our assessment process is to sign up to our events, view our hints and tips right here on the careers site, and visit the Talk To Us page to ask direct questions of BDO team members.

Video interview

The video interview is your chance to tell us more about you and help us decide whether you have what it takes to be successful at BDO.

Don’t worry if you haven’t done anything like this before, the system will take you through each stage of the process.

We’ll be looking for evidence of what you do well and enjoy doing, to make sure you are a good fit for BDO. This is your opportunity to reflect on whether BDO can meet your ambitions and demonstrate your motivation to join us. We want to find the right candidates for our organisation, but we also want you to find the right employer.

Tips for our video interview:

  • Be yourself. We want to get to know the real you. Relax and answer the questions as honestly and openly as you can.
  • Speak clearly and concisely, sharing as much information as you wish.
  • Listen to the question carefully (there are also subtitles if you prefer). The candidates that perform the best are careful about responding to the question asked – rather than giving answers they may have pre-prepared. As with all interviews, you won’t be allowed to go back and change your responses.

If you are successful, the next stage of the recruitment process is our Virtual Assessment Centre.

We’ll be looking for evidence of what you do well and enjoy doing.
